Contact angle measurement device
Contact angle measurement is a non-destructive method of determining the wetting behaviour of liquids on a solid surface. The surface tensions calculated from the contact angle data are characteristic measure for the respective system surface/fluid. The contact angle measurement allows characterizing and evaluation of interactions between two solids, the adhesion between coating and substrate material, and the wetting behaviour of lubricants. The angles that are measured enable the calculation of surface and interfacial tension along with spreading coefficients. Through the use of a heating chamber it is possible to carry out measurements at elevated temperatures. That enables to analyse the wetting behaviour of melted plastics on e.g. coated tools.
