Incremental Borehole Method
Residual stress is a concomitant of manufacturing processes. For components, it can be both advantageous and disadvantageous. Critical load conditions occur when load and residual stress accumulate. Contradictory signs of tension have a compensatory effect. The incremental borehole method allows the experimental determination of the depth distribution of the residual stress even on complex assembly groups to evaluate the load-balanced material behaviour.
